URC Flour Celebrates 50 Flourishing Years of Service

Half a century later, the division continues to grow and set the industry’s Gold Standard.

The URC Flour and Pasta Division turns 50 this year and to commemorate its five decades around the sun, a special gold emblem with the theme “Growing. Outstanding. Leading. Dynamic. 50 years of setting the industry’s Gold Standard” was released. 

Furthermore, URC Flour decided to hold giveaways and produce a series of online cooking classes, in lieu of the celebration which was supposed to be held last October, as a way of thanking and giving back to their customers whose support has helped make this huge milestone possible. 

“2020 has been a challenging year, but with the unwavering support of everyone and all the departments pulling the resources together, we are recovering. Some even cross-functioned and volunteered to go to the plant from doing office work to fill the position. We’re grateful for this kind of dedication of our people in times of crisis,” said URC Flour’s Managing Director Ellison Dean C. Lee.

Growing Through the Years 

If there’s one word to describe URC’s 50 years in the industry, Mr. Lee proudly answers that it's “fulfilling.” Through several expansions, URC has grown substantially since it was founded in 1970. Mr. Lee describes the experience: “My journey here in URC Flour, it has everything. It’s quite challenging. There’s competition, lots of frustrations, but of course there’s a lot of successes and achievements. You experience a lot of the things that you look for in a career. You got growth. You got everything you want here.” 

Aside from their loyal customers, URC Flour’s dedicated employees, long-time clients, and supportive management are also the reasons behind the division’s success according to Mr. Lee.   

“Another thing that has really helped us is our improved quality. When we started, our brands were not the preferred brands in the market. Now, we’re at par with the leading flour miller,” he added.  

The journey doesn't end here. URC Flour continues to be one of the leading brands in the flour industry and according to Mr. Lee, it aims to be number one in the future with further expansions in the flour business. Starting off their journey to the top, the company is currently growing their Baker John bread products. “If everything goes well, we plan to enter the bread market in a big way,” Mr. Lee assures.
